Police Nab Four Suspected Armed Robbers During Raid on Oyo Hideout
Police authorities in Oyo State have arrested four suspected armed robbers believed to be linked to cult-related activities during a coordinated operation carried out in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area.
According to reports from the state police command, the operation was conducted after security operatives received intelligence concerning the activities of a criminal group allegedly operating within parts of Ibadan.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that officers attached to the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit carried out the raid in the early hours of Friday following information that the suspects were allegedly preparing for another criminal operation within the community.
Authorities identified the arrested individuals as Salawu Sarafa, also known as Folori; Yusuf Tajudeen, popularly called Blacky; Farouq Ariyo; and Adebayo Awosemo, also known as Naira.
Police said a locally fabricated firearm was recovered during the operation.
During preliminary investigations, the suspects reportedly admitted to being members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity and allegedly linked themselves to several violent activities across parts of Ibadan and surrounding communities.
The command further stated that efforts are ongoing to track down additional members believed to have escaped and to uncover the full extent of the group’s activities.
Investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue efforts to dismantle the suspected criminal network and strengthen security across affected areas.
