Former DSS Operative Reveals How Security Forces Rescued Oyo Abducted Pupils After 56 Days
Security agencies successfully secured the release of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State after 56 days in captivity through a carefully coordinated intelligence operation, according to former Department of State Services (DSS) operative Seyi Adetayo.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Adetayo explained that the rescue mission relied heavily on intelligence gathering rather than direct military confrontation.
Intelligence Strategy Led to Rescue
According to the former DSS officer, investigators traced the kidnappers’ family members, including their mothers, wives, children, and other close associates, as part of efforts to weaken the criminal network.
He said security operatives detained some of these relatives and reportedly sent recorded videos of the operation to the kidnappers, increasing pressure on them to release the captives.
Adetayo stated that the strategy played a significant role in convincing the abductors to free the victims.
Security Forces Blocked Supply Routes
Beyond targeting the kidnappers’ support network, security agencies also disrupted their logistics by blocking supply routes and limiting possible escape paths.
He noted that intelligence gathering, continuous surveillance, and negotiations were combined throughout the operation to ensure the victims returned safely.
Victims Freed Without Ransom
According to Adetayo, the coordinated operation resulted in the release of the abducted pupils and teachers after spending 56 days in captivity.
He added that the victims regained their freedom without any ransom payment or prisoner exchange, describing the outcome as a major success for Nigeria’s security agencies.
The rescue has been widely welcomed as another example of how intelligence-led operations can help combat kidnapping and improve public safety.
