Former Fubara Aide Darlington Orji Joins Rivers Rainbow Coalition Backing Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election
A fresh political development has emerged in Rivers State as Darlington Orji, a former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly joined the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance linked to **Nyesom Wike>.
Former Rivers State Commissioner for Transport, Collins Onunwo, is also reported to have joined the coalition.
The Rainbow Coalition is a bipartisan political movement said to be mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The latest defections come after Governor Fubara announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, a decision that cleared the way for Kingsley Chinda to emerge as the party’s governorship candidate.
The governor’s decision reportedly created dissatisfaction among some of his political supporters, many of whom said they had stood by him throughout the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.
Confirming his new political direction, Darlington Orji shared photographs of himself with members of the Rainbow Coalition on Facebook, describing the move as a return to familiar political allies.
In his post, he wrote that he had “returned home to my family,” a statement widely interpreted as an endorsement of the coalition led by Wike and his supporters.
The latest development highlights the continuing realignment of political forces in Rivers State as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
